Emergency Management Agency
The five municipalities of the Central Peace Region; Birch Hills County, MD of Spirit River #133, Saddle Hills County, Town of Spirit River and Village of Rycroft have partnered to form The Central Peace Region – Emergency Management Agency. The CPR – EMA is responsible planning preparedness, mitigation, response, management and recovery of major emergencies and disasters in The Central Peace Region. This approach takes advantage of the combined strength, resources and expertise of the five municipalities.

Emergency Management Committee
The CPR - EMA is governed by The Central Peace Region – Emergency Management Committee. The committee meets three times per year and consists of Council Representatives, Chief Administrative Officers and Fire Services from each of the municipalities as well as representatives from RCMP, EMS, Alberta Health Services, Schools, Victims Assistance, FCSS, Utility companies and industry.
Disaster Social Services
The Central Peace Region – Disaster Social Services Team is responsible for management of persons evacuated or displaced during an emergency. This responsibility is divided into five functional areas:
- Registration & Inquiry
- Emergency Lodging Services
- Emergency Food Services
- Emergency Clothing Services
- Personal Services
