Assessment / taxation notices are mailed out in April and taxes are due and payable on October 15 of each year. The combined assessment / taxation notice covers the current calendar year from January 1 to December 31. When will a late payment charge be applied? If your tax payment is not received by October 15, a 12% penalty will be applied on your outstanding balance. What happens if I plan to be away on the day my taxes are due? If you are going to be away on October 15, Saddle Hills County Administrative Office will accept post-dated cheques for payment of taxes. Tax payments may be made at most Financial Institutions, by online banking, mail or in person at the Saddle Hills County Office. Payments may also be placed in the night deposit box at the Saddle Hills County Office. What will happen if I don't pay my taxes? Collection procedures differ according to the type of tax account you have. If your tax account is for titled land, the following tax recovery process is outlined by the provincial government:
If your property is a taxable lease, and your taxes are in arrears, a reminder letter will be mailed to you by February 28 of that year. If your taxes are unpaid by October 15 of that year, steps will be taken to have the lease cancelled.
