Dog Licensing Bylaw

Notice to Woking Residents

In response to recent consultation with the public, Council has adopted a new Dog Control Bylaw (#199-2011) that is intended to create a harmonious environment between the Woking community and “man’s best friend”.  One component of the new bylaw is the incorporation of Dog Licenses for dogs within the Hamlet of Woking.

Dog licenses may be purchased at the County office during regular business hours.  The annual dog license fee is $25.00 per animal.  For the first partial year of the coming into effect of Dog Control Bylaw No. 199-2011, the annual license will include the first partial year plus the following full calendar year.  Therefore, an initial license purchased in 2011 will not expire until December 31, 2012.  A metal dog tag will be issued for each licensed dog.

Copies of the Dog Control Bylaw are available on the Policies & Bylaws page or at the County office.

After October 31, 2011, any breaches of the Dog Bylaw will be subject to the penalties outlined in the Master Rates Bylaw No. 204-2011.
