Peace Officer Has Interesting Encounter

Belt BuckleOur Peace Officer, Norm Backer, encountered a fellow with an interesting story while doing community outreach this week.

A gentleman came up to Norm's patrol unit to show him an item from New York in 1664 from when the Dutch first started policing New York.  Apparently his great grandfather was a Community Police Officer in Holland and drove a three-wheeler side cart.  He showed Norm a picture of his great grandfather in uniform and his offical belt buckle.

Can anybody tell us what the Latin on the buckle means?

Norm asks, "How many other cool community stories are out their in Saddlehills County?

If you can help us decipher the Latin, or if you have a similar story to share, let us know.
