GWF-038 Fire Update - June 7, 2023

Image of Fire Map

Fire GWF-038 is now approximately 1000 ha, with wind from the west. Protective measures have been taken with structures in the area and helicopter bucketing continues. The fire behavior is expected to increase this afternoon, similar to yesterday, but with milder winds.

Cool temperatures again tonight should calm down fire behaviour again. East winds are forecast for tomorrow and Friday, so that will significantly slow down the spread of the fire to the east.

We will continue to provide updates as available, and advise residents of evacuation measures if and when necessary, through Alberta Emergency Alert, and our various media platforms.

Please continue to be prepared. Emergency preparedness resources are available on our website and through Be Prepared Alberta.
