Savanna Fire Hall Grand Opening Draws Big Crowd

More than 90 residents joined Saddle Hills County Council, staff and dignitaries to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Savanna Fire Hall Tuesday evening, February 5, 2019.

Director of Community and Protective Services Brian Ballard welcomed residents and dignitaries which included: the Honourable Marg McCuaig-Boyd, Minister of Energy and MLA for the riding of Dunvegan-Central Peace Notley, Reeve Alvin Hubert, Deputy Reeve Kristen Smith, Councillor Ed Armagost, District Fire Chief Ken Dolen and members of Council.


Brian Ballard, Councillor Armagosy and Ken DolenIn his opening remarks, Reeve Alvin Hubert spoke of Council's appreciation for all of the hard work by staff, contractors and businesses which made the project such a success. He also thanked fire fighters and first responders for the crucial job they perform in keeping residents and businesses safe.

"Saddle Hills County believes it is our responsibility to ensure that our fire fighters and first responders have the very best equipment, training and facilities we can provide for them," he said.

Reeve Hubert then introduced Marg McCuaig-Boyd who expressed her thanks to the fire fighters and first responders and congratulated Saddle Hills County for always thinking and planning globally and for the long term.

Ken Macfarlane"I especially want to thank our fire fighters and first responders. You are taking really good care of us and it is great that you have such a beautiful building to help you do the work which is so important to us," she told the audience, adding, "We are safe when we know you're not far away."


Chief Dolen thanked the County for the new hall and expressed particular appreciation for the work of Brian Ballard who, Dolen said, has always taken good care of Saddle Hills County fire fighters and made sure they have the best training and tools needed to do their jobs.

Dolen also thanked Fire Services and Facilities Maintenance Coordinator Ken Macfarlane for his work on behalf of the fire departments.
