Phase 2 - Compiling Council and Public Input to Draft MDP and LUB

For several months Saddle Hills County's Planning & Information Systems Department has been conducting extensive public consultations as it goes through the process of updating the County's Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB).

Through a mail-out to all residents, and a series of Open Houses held through the County during the Spring and Summer the County invited the public to get involved in a Community Planning Survey on the two documents.

On Wednesday, September 13, 2017, a day-long meeting of the Planning Advisory Committee sought input from Councillors on Phase 2 of the process - the compilation of the first draft.

Professionals from ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd. joined representatives of Saddle Hills County's Planning & Information Systems Department to get feedback from Counillors on the process. Councillors John Moen, Lawrence Andruchiw and Cindy Clarke attended the session and reviewed the progress to date adding their feedback.

The purpose of the updated MDP is to provide the“big picture” land use planning framework to guide long-term growth and development decisions for the County.

The LUB is a document which regulates how land in the County can be used and developed. Community input is important to the process of renewing and updating the MDP and LUB so that they reflect the values and aspirations of the County as a whole.
