Remembering Tim Stone (Saddle Hills County Reeve, 1996-2013)

All at Saddle Hills County were deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of past County Reeve Tim Stone, on October 24, 2023.

Tim grew up in Alberta and lived for many years in the Silver Valley area, raising his family in the County. Alongside running the family farm, he worked in vegetation control, coaching hockey and volunteering in his spare time. He was an incredibly active community member, dedicating his time to several boards, including the Savanna Lighthouse Assembly, Spirit River School Division, and the Savanna Ag Society, among others. He was a strong advocate for his community and his influence can still be seen to this day.

He sat on Council for many terms, between 1995 and 2013, and served as both Deputy Reeve (1995-96) and Reeve (1996-2013) during that time. Tim saw many changes in Saddle Hills County during his tenure and was witness to some great moments of County history, such as the opening of the still widely popular Cotillion Campground, in 2008.

Tim was a pillar of the community and an exceptional leader. I sat on Council during the time that Tim was Reeve and have many fond memories of him. He will be deeply missed.

- Alvin Hubert, Reeve

Tim is remembered fondly throughout the County, especially by those in his chosen home in the Savanna area. The community is gathering to remember Tim at 2 p.m. on November 25, 2023, at the Savanna Rec. Plex.
