Fire Restriction in Effect

Effective as of 3:30 p.m. on May 17, 2024, Saddle Hills County has downgraded the FIRE BAN to a FIRE RESTRICTION, which means campfires and other small fires will be allowed in approved fire pits, burn barrels, and enclosures. This only applies to areas outside of the Forest Protection Area.

The FIRE BAN by Alberta Forestry for the Grande Prairie Forest Protection Area remains in place over the long weekend. This means campfires are not allowed in the Forest Protection Area, which includes Cotillion, Hilltop, and Spring Lake Campgrounds. www.albertafirebans.ca

Alberta Parks is also maintaining their FIRE BAN over the weekend, so campfires will not be permitted at Moonshine Lake Provincial Park and Dunvegan Provincial Park. www.albertaparks.ca/albertaparksca/advisories-public-safety/fire-bans

There is no ATV ban at this time.

Safety Tips For Passing Snowplows And Graders

Please be aware of slow-moving graders. Our graders use highways to get across the County to keep our roads clean and safe. Please: 

  • Treat graders as slow-moving vehicles and only pass when it is safe to do so.
  • Watch for signal lights while on the highway
  • When the grader is working, stay further back and only pass when it is safe or when the operator signals you to pass
  • Allow our graders extra room at intersections as they may be backing up or turning around.
