News and Newsletters

The County strives to provide as much information to our residents as possible and regularly updates the public on County activities and programs, projects, and events, that may be of interest to them. You can view these in the News section of our website and on all of our social media platforms.  News can be filtered by topics, such as Agricultural News, Road Alerts or Fire Notices, and you can Subscribe to be notified as soon as a story is published in any or all of the topic fields.

We publish multiple issues of our County Living Newsletters throughout the year, giving residents and visitors information on what is happening in the County, including important programs and initiatives, contests, opportunities, local businesses, and much more. This is then made available to residents for free. Copies of this are mailed out to residents and can be found online, at the County office, and at our four General Stores.

Unfortunately the mailing system does miss some residences that may have PO Boxes in Spirit River or exclude flyers, among other reasons. We would love to make sure that each resident that wants a copy has access to one. By filling in a Newsletter Request Form you can request a copy be mailed directly to your home or PO Box each issue, along with other materials, such as the County calendar (featuring Photo Contest winners), Annual Report, and any important notices.

The Central Peace Signal Newspaper covers local area news but also provides important information from local municipalities, with copies coming out every Tuesday. Saddle Hills County provides weekly updates and information through the Central Peace Signal back page, a great resource for anyone wanting a summary of upcoming events, programs, and resources available to them. As a resident or ratepayer in Saddle Hills County you qualify to receive a complimentary subscription to the newspaper, as well as to Town & Country Grande Prairie Regional News.

Please note the following information regarding subscriptions:

  • Ratepayers who reside within Saddle Hills County, who are signed up to receive a copy of the Signal or Town & Country, will have their subscriptions renewed automatically on a yearly basis
  • Non-resident ratepayers must annually request to have their subscription renewed
  • Non-ratepaying residents (such as tenants) must annually request to have their subscription renewed

This is put in place to ensure that we are sending information to all those who wish to receive it and not posting unwanted copies to vacated homes or those who have chosen to opt out.

Anyone not currently receiving a copy who would like to be added to the distribution list, or anyone receiving a copy that has changed their mailing address, please contact the County office at taxation@saddlehills.ab.ca
