  • Wildfire Season Starts Today

    Alberta has declared an early start to wildfire season, 10 days early on February 20, 2024, due to low precipitation levels and warmer than normal temperatures. 

  • Check your Winter Burn Piles

    Please revisit your winter burn sites before the start of the 2024 wildfire season.

  • Fire Advisory Rescinded - Effective October 12, 2023

    Due to the recent precipitation and cooler conditions the FIRE ADVISORY in Saddle Hills County has been rescinded, effective October 12, 2023.

  • Fire Update - October 2, 2023

    Fire GWF066, approximately 10km northeast of Gundy, is now classified as Under Control (UC) at 12.9 hectares. Since it began on September 17, 2023, firefighters have been working hard to extinguish this deep burning ground fire.

  • A Shout-Out to our Amazing Volunteer First Responders!

    Saddle Hills County Fire Departments, along with Forestry resources, responded to an outdoor fire, that consumed a 3 hectare area, as well as a storage building and its contents, on Friday, September 15, 2023. Blueberry and Happy Valley Fire Departments helped to control the spread of the fire and keep it from candling into the trees and burning deeper down into the Ksituan valley.

  • Fire Update - September 18, 2023

    Fire GWF-066, 10 km northeast of Gundy, is now classified as Being Held at 7 ha.

     

  • Fire Notice - September 17, 2023

    Fire GWF-066 was discovered early this afternoon, approximately 8km east of Gundy, 22km south of Highway 49, near the Saddle Hills Forestry Tower. The forestry is approximately 8 ha in size. There is currently no threat to area residents and no residences within the immediate area of the fire.

    Fire Restriction Lifted - Effective July 26, 2023 at 6 p.m.

    The fire restriction for Saddle Hills County has been lifted as of July 26 2023, at 6 p.m.

  • Fire Updates - July 11, 2023

    The Cecil Fire (GWF-018), previously the Peace River Banks/Cleardale Fire, is currently classified as Being Held at an estimated 49,327 ha in size.
