Alberta Moisture Situation Update – August 20, 2026
Recent rainfall continues to create very different moisture conditions across Alberta. While parts of southern and central Alberta remain relatively dry, northern regions continue to experience wetter conditions and, in some areas, excess moisture.
In the Peace Region, sub-surface soil moisture remains strong, with approximately 90 per cent rated good to excellent. Across northern Alberta, frequent rainfall and wet conditions have delayed field work, haying and crop development in some areas.
As harvest approaches, warmer and drier weather will be important to help crops mature and improve field access.
