Alberta Wallet: Access All Your Important Documents in One Place

The Government of Alberta is launching the new Alberta Wallet, allowing Albertans to access all of their important government-issued documents in one place - on their phone.

The first document to be available on the app will be the Mobile Health Card. The card will serve as valid proof of health insurance coverage throughout Alberta, and can be presented at medical facilities in the same way as the current paper card. It offers a more secure, convenient, future-proof, and durable alternative.

Mobile Health Card will be available to eligible Albertans aged 14 and older, with parents and guardians able to add their children's cards to their own Alberta Wallets. Spouses and partners will also have this option.

Both Alberta Wallet and the Mobile Health Card are protected by strong encryptions, ensuring that personal information stays private and is only accessible by the individual, and that this is not shared with third parties without consent.

Alberta Wallet and the Mobile Health Card are both optional and Albertans who prefer paper documents will still be able to use them.

To access the app, Albertans will need a verified Alberta.ca account, as well as a MyHealth Records account to access their Mobile Health Card. More documents are planned to be added over time.
