Be Prepared: Costly Disasters

The Insurance Bureau of Canada recently recorded the August hailstorm in Calgary, as the second costliest insured event in Canada’s history. Emergencies of any kind and size can cause financial strain.

#BePrepared with the following tips:

  • Contact your insurance provider yearly to confirm your coverage is up-to-date, considers the hazards in your area, and covers your needs.
  • Create a home inventory of belongings and use photos to document in case of a potential claim.
  • Keep emergency cash handy in case banking services are unavailable.

Keep receipts for all expenses incurred during an emergency or disaster.

Financial preparedness is one step of many you can take to protect yourself when emergencies happen.
