Be Prepared: Evacuations
Many communities across Alberta are being impacted by increased wildfire activity. Whether you live in a community near the wildfires, in an area at risk or just want to know more in the event it affects you too, #BePrepared by:
- Staying informed through the Alberta Emergency Alert app, Voyent Alert app, and following local authorities for updates.
- Putting together an emergency kit of supplies including important documents, water, charging cords, snacks, clothes, hygiene products, and other essential or sentimental items. Keep the emergency kit in your fully fueled or charged vehicle in case of an evacuation.
- Preparing your pets and creating a pet profile card with critical information. Keep digital copies and store a physical copy in their carrier.
- Preparing your farm and making an Agricultural Producer Wildfire Plan.
If you haven’t already, create an Alberta.ca account and then register through the MyAlberta Emergency Registration System. Set up a profile for your household, including pets. This information helps your local authority meet the needs of your community before, during, and after an emergency.
