Be Prepared: Supplies
Emergencies can happen with little warning, disrupt access to everyday services we rely on and may require you to shelter-in-place or evacuate. Preparing emergency supplies in advance helps you and your loved ones stay safe. Be Prepared:
- Learn the difference between gathering supplies and building an emergency kit. Don’t forget to share your knowledge with loved ones by getting them involved too.
- Collect items from around your home that aren’t being used to build an inventory of emergency supplies. An old backpack/duffle bag, for example, is a low-cost start of an emergency kit.
- Consider your households unique needs when adding items to your supplies. For example, medications, formula for babies, a tire patch kit for a wheelchair, or pet food.
Preparing emergency supplies is one small step to building self-reliance and protecting you and your loved ones before, during and after an emergency. Use Be Prepared programming and resources to learn about more preparedness actions you can take.
