International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Yesterday, February 11, 2024 marked the International Day for Women and Girls in Science! On this day we recognize the contributions of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and celebrate the progress women have made in these traditionally male dominated fields.

Women working in these fields help to make the extraordinary possible, solving real-world problems and making meaningful impacts in our everyday lives. When young girls see women excelling in these careers it reminds them that their own dream are also possible.

“Tomorrow's workforce will need a diversity of skills, experience and leadership, qualities that women in Alberta have in abundance.”

- Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Advanced Education

We would like to take a moment to recognize the contributions of all women in STEM, especially those in Saddle Hills County, including our own Agricultural Services and Water Treatment Plant staff. We appreciate all you do, your incredible talent, and the role you play in inspiring our young women to pursue their own careers in STEM.
