Medical Alert Device Subsidy Now Available for County Seniors

The program provides eligible residents with a subsidy of up to $400 annually to help offset the cost of a medical alert device and associated subscription fees.

Medical alert devices are wearable or portable devices, other than cell phones, that allow a person to call for emergency assistance in the event of a fall or other medical emergency. Subscription fees may include access to an emergency response centre and cellular network connection for the device.

Who is eligible?

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be 65 years of age or older and a resident of Saddle Hills County.
  • Submit one application each year by January 31.
  • Include receipts for eligible medical alert device and/or subscription costs from the previous calendar year.

Subsidy payments of up to $400 per eligible applicant will be issued following the January 31 application deadline.

The program is intended to help reduce the cost of an added layer of safety for seniors who may need quick access to emergency assistance at home or while out in the community.

The Application can be found HERE   under the Family & Community Support Services Section
