Motorcycle Awareness
Motorcycles are back on Saddle Hills County roads.
Staying alert and watching for riders can prevent serious collisions and save lives.
When driving, remember:
- Watch for motorcycles, especially when turning or changing lanes.
- Take extra care when driving near motorcycles, because they are smaller and harder to see than other vehicles.
- Drive to the condition of the road. When roads are wet, or when there is reduced visibility, motorists must slow down.
Motorcyclists can improve their own safety by doing the following:
- Follow traffic laws.
- Obtain the proper training.
- Stay visible by avoiding blind spots and using lights and signals clearly.
- Start out on a smaller motorcycle and gain experience before moving to a larger one.
- Wear proper gear, including a certified helmet, protective clothing, eye protection and sturdy footwear.
