Peace Officer Monthly Update- May 2026

During May, Peace Officer Wayne Olson conducted patrols Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with continued focus on areas identified through reports from County staff and residents.

A total of 20 working days and 170 hours were logged during the month, including:
•    129 hours of County patrols
•    28 hours of training and administrative duties
•    2.5 hours for events and investigations
•    10.5 hours for breaks and community engagement

Traffic enforcement resulted in 11 violations, including:
•    8 speeding offences in 100 km/h zones
•    3 stop sign violations

Of those traffic stops:
•    3 drivers failed to provide valid proof of insurance
•    2 drivers failed to provide proof of registration

The average speed of drivers stopped for speeding was 24 km/h over the posted limit, with speeds ranging from 19 km/h to 43 km/h above the limit.

Traffic concerns reported by County residents continued to be monitored and targeted through patrol enforcement.

A highlight of the month was serving as a judge at the North End Peace Wapiti School Division Declamation Finals in Savanna. The finalists delivered excellent speeches and poetry presentations, demonstrating a high level of preparation and talent.
