September Peace Officer Report

Saddle Hills County Peace Officer Wayne Olson completed 178.5 working hours over 21 days in September, with a continued focus on traffic safety, community concerns and patrols throughout the County.

During the month, Olson conducted 13 traffic stops, including 10 vehicles exceeding the 100 km/h speed limit, two exceeding a 30 km/h limit and one driver who failed to stop at a stop sign. The average speed of vehicles stopped for speeding was 28 km/h over the posted limit, with speeds ranging from 19 to 46 km/h over.
Traffic stops also identified four drivers without valid proof of registration and three without valid proof of insurance. One provincial ticket was issued, with warnings provided in the remaining circumstances.

Olson completed 97 hours of County patrols, six hours monitoring school zones and 12 hours on events and investigations. He responded to two criminal investigations, with one investigation ongoing, and continued to focus patrols on areas identified through concerns from residents and County staff.

Community engagement also remained a priority. Olson participated in the County’s Leaders of Tomorrow event and visited Northern Lights School to speak with students about his role and responsibilities as a Peace Officer.
