Weed Inspectors Begin Work

Did you know that Saddle Hills County is at the heart of one of Canada’s most important crop producing regions?

To help ensure the high quality of our crops and eliminate pests, our Weed Inspectors carry out regular annual inspections, looking for noxious and prohibited noxious weeds listed under the Weed Control Act and nuisance and pest species listed under the Agricultural Pests Act. So, if you see a County staff member in your field in the coming months, they are there to help!

Weed Inspectors may park vehicles in field approaches but will never drive onto your land, and follow strict biosecurity protocols to prevent disease spread. Find out more about Weed Control and Noxious and Prohibited Noxious Weeds, on our dedicated webpage

If you have any questions or concerns about weed inspections, or other services that our Ag Services Department offers, please email us at ag@saddlehills.ab.ca or call (780) 864-3760.
