WFX-FIT Test Open Houses - Grande Prairie
Alberta Wildfire is hosting WFX-FIT open houses in Grande Prairie for anyone interested in joining the team. Participants can test their fitness and gain confidence in a supportive, welcoming environment while experiencing the physical demands of wildland firefighting.
The WFX-FIT is an unbiased, valid, and reliable assessment that measures a wildland firefighter’s ability to safely and efficiently perform the critical emergency tasks required in Canada.
What the Test Involves

Carrying a simulation pump (28.5 kg) on your back for 160 m over a ramp.

Carrying the simulation pump in your hands for 80 m.

Wearing a hose pack (25 kg) on your back for 1 km over the ramp.

Dragging a weighted sled (18.5 kg) 80 m on ground level to simulate advancing a charged hose.
The Open Houses are being held, on November 21, 2025, from 1 to 6:30 p.m., and November 22, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm., at the Grande Prairie Forestry Warehouse.
