Wildfire Season Starts Today

March 1st marks the start of wildfire season in Alberta.

Fire permits are now required for all burning within the Forest Protection Area (FPA), except for campfires. Permits are free and can be obtained online or by contacting your local forestry office.

For areas outside of the Forest Protection Area, a Controlled Burn Notification is required. Saddle Hills County is located within the Grande Prairie Forest Protection Area.

Wildfire prevention starts with stopping fires before they begin. Please do your part to help reduce the risk this wildfire season, every effort counts.
