Fire Advisory - August 11, 2025

Saddle Hills County has downgraded the Fire Restriction to a FIRE ADVISORY. A Fire Advisory is also in effect for the Grande Prairie Forest Area. 

Controlled burning in the Non-Forest Protection Area, including on privately-owned land, is limited to campfires, burning barrels, and hand-piled wood, two cubic metres or smaller.

Burn permits are still required and will be issued on a case-by-case basis. Large fuel burns will not be permitted at this time.

Annual Cattle Market Evening - Sept. 5, 2025

Join the Peace Country Beef & Forage Association (PCBFA) for their annual Cattle Market Evening, to be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 4:30 p.m., at the Rycroft Ag Society Hall.

This event offers an opportunity to connect with fellow producers and gain valuable insights from industry experts regarding current market trends and projections, including keynote speaker, Brian Perillat!

Attendees will benefit from a producer panel that will explore various beef sale formats, and a brief presentation providing practical advice on how to effectively prepare cattle for market, particularly in times of feed scarcity.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and supper will be provided!
