Blueberry Mountain Wildfire (GWF028) Update

Saddle Hills County issued a State of Local Emergency at 6:25 p.m., on June 9, 2025, due to an Out of Control wildfire burning in the Blueberry Mountain area.

Wildfire GWF028 was first reported on May 22, 2025, and is located 7 km northwest of Moonshine Lake, creeping southeast. Alberta Wildfire and local fire crews are actively responding, with both ground crews and aircraft.

An Evacuation Order is in place for anyone located between Range Road 95 and Highway 725, and Township Road 794 and Township Road 802, including Moonshine Lake Provincial Park. An Evacuation Centre has been established at the Blueberry Mountain Hall, located at Highway 680 and Range Road 82. Residents should bring all essential supplies, including documents, medications, and pet supplies, to last up to seven days.

The following areas are on an Evacuation Alert, between:

  • Range Road 95 and Highway 725, and Township Road 802 and Township Road 810.
  • Range Road 95 and Highway 725, and Township 794 and Highway 49.
  • Township Road 802 and Highway 49, and Highway 725 and Range Road 82.

Anyone in these areas should be prepared to evacuate within one hour.

Highway 725 currently remains open, although the public is urged to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to work safely.
