Fire Advisory - August 11, 2025

Saddle Hills County has downgraded the Fire Restriction to a FIRE ADVISORY. A Fire Advisory is also in effect for the Grande Prairie Forest Area. 

Controlled burning in the Non-Forest Protection Area, including on privately-owned land, is limited to campfires, burning barrels, and hand-piled wood, two cubic metres or smaller.

Burn permits are still required and will be issued on a case-by-case basis. Large fuel burns will not be permitted at this time.

No Physician at Central Peace Health Complex Emergency - August 19, 2025

Alberta Health Services has advised that the Central Peace Health Complex Emergency Department in Spirit River, will have no physician on site today, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, until 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Nursing staff will remain on site in the emergency department providing triage, assessments, and referrals for patients to alternate emergency departments in surrounding communities, including the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will remain available in the community to ensure residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need. Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.

Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7, for non-emergency health-related questions.
