Evacuation Order Rescinded

The State of Local Emergency issued by Saddle Hills County has expired, as of June 23, 2025, at 6:25 p.m. and the mandatory Evacuation Order has been rescinded.  However, an Evacuation Alert remains in effect for all those in the vicinity of the fire and residents should remain prepared, should conditions change.

Fire Restriction in Effect - June 17, 2025

As of June 17, 2025, the Fire Ban in Saddle Hills County and the Grande Prairie Forest Area has been downgraded to a FIRE RESTRICTION. This includes in Cotillion Park, Hilltop Lake, and Spring Lake.

Controlled burning in the Non-Forest Protection Area, including on privately-owned land, is now limited to campfires and burning barrels. Large fuel burns will not be permitted at this time.

This FIRE RESTRICTION will remain in place until conditions improve.

UPDATE: Hamelin Creek Wildfire (June 24, 2025)

The Hamelin Creek Wildfire (GWF028), located in the Blueberry Mountain area, is still classified as Out of Control, at 5,557 ha, with approximately 67 km of perimeter fire guard to maintain.

The State of Local Emergency issued by Saddle Hills County has expired, as of June 23, 2025, at 6:25 p.m. and the mandatory Evacuation Order has been rescinded. The fire poses no immediate threat to residents, at this time. However, an Evacuation Alert remains in effect for all those in the vicinity of the fire (pictured) and residents should remain prepared, should conditions change.

Alberta Forestry continues to work on this fire, utilizing available manpower and equipment, to put out hotspots and maintain the guard. With climbing temperatures expected in the coming week, more hot spots may become apparent. 

Traffic utilizing Range Road 95 should use caution when travelling through the fire zone, although we recommend that alternative routes are used, where possible. 

Moonshine Lake Provincial Park remains closed at this time, and a re-opening date has not yet been announced.
