Agricultural Wildfire Preparedness Workshop - April 9, 2024

In preparation for the upcoming wildfire season, we would like to invite our local producers to a workshop on April 9, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., at the Gordondale Hall, to help you develop an emergency plan customized to your livestock operation.

Rachel Lotsberg and Katherine Altman, Emergency Management Officers with Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation, will be joining us for an informative session for producers on how to best prepare for emergency situations involving livestock.

The event is free to attend and supper will be provided, but we do ask that interested participants register in advance at www.saddlehills.ab.ca/agprep, by April 4, 2024.

Meet the Presenters

Rachel Lotsberg

Rachel Lotsberg recently joined Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation and has been involved in emergency management for over 10 years in the healthcare field. Her career began as an Emergency Medical Technician working with various northern ambulance services including West Yellowhead, Slave Lake, North Central and Capital Region where she developed a strong connection to communities. While she has experience working in rural Alberta this is her first opportunity to work directly with Producers in Agriculture and as she is sharing information, she is also learning from you.

Katherine Altman

Katherine Altman first became involved in emergency management as part of the southern Alberta 2013 flood response and recovery.  Her experience working as an advocate with and for indigenous communities in their pursuits of self-determination coupled with spending her childhood on a community pasture in Alberta's north Peace country created a great foundation for working with distinct and remote communities.  Since then Katherine transitioned into working full time in the emergency management field with Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation.
