Wildlife Sightings

To report wildlife sightings in Alberta, especially concerning conflicts or dangerous animals like bears and cougars in urban areas, contact the Alberta Fish and Wildlife Enforcement via their hotline at 1-877-952-RAPP (7277) or online at rapp.alberta.ca

Most normal sightings of common animals in natural settings, such as moose, deer or coyotes, don't need reporting, but situations with bears in garbage, cougars near homes or aggressive animals require immediate reporting to assess public safety risks. Suspicious activity, such as poaching or other illegal wildlife activity, should also be reported.

You can also contact the local Fish and Wildlife Office for non-emergency situations. The contact number for the Grande Prairie, Grande Cache, Spirit River, and Valleyview area is (780) 538-5265.

If you spot a bear or other dangerous animal in a Saddle Hills County Campground, you may also contact the County at (780) 864-3760, during regular office hours.
