Parks & Recreation

Saddle Hills County is a place where you can experience nature, culture, and adventure in every season.

Our Campgrounds and Parks are busy all summer long. Whether you want to camp by the serene Spring Lake or Hilltop Lake, experience year round trout fishing, boat on the mighty Peace River at Cotillion Park, or explore the trails, you will find plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy.

Our local Splash Park in Savanna, is the perfect place to cool off on a warm summer day, and there is often an ice cream and concession stand on hand for some seasonal munchies.

Our talented residents regularly host a variety of Community Events, such as the annual fairs and parades in Bonanza and Savanna, or the Music in the Park festival at Cotillion Park.

For the adventurers, why not marvel at the geological wonders of the Rim Rock formations, where prehistoric fossils have been found, find the hidden waterfall at Cotillion Park, or participate in the Geocaching treasure hunt, and discover hidden surprises in containers designed by local artisans.

If you’re looking for some winter family fun, why not toboggan at the Saddle Hills County Slopes, skate at one of the local rinks, enjoy a spot of ice fishing, or hit the slopes at the Spring Lake Ski Hill

Our three local Libraries are fully stocked with an assortment of books and electronic entertainment, and our Woking Library even boasts a Library of Things, with an assortment of games, cooking and baking accessories, and recreation items to borrow.

Saddle Hills County is also an ideal spot for wildlife enthusiasts and hunters. Spot or hunt elk and bears in the forests, observe birds and animals at Jack Bird Pond, or visit the Dunvegan West Wildlands or Silver Valley Ecological Reserve.

History buffs can explore the Historic Dunvegan Site for a relaxing journey through our frontier history or get in touch with the South Peace Regional Archives to peruse historical documents and photographs. Gardening and shopping enthusiasts should stop by our beautiful Greenhouses, check out the Farmers Markets, or shop at any of our other amazing local Businesses.
