Delegations to Council

The democratic process is vitally dependent on public involvement, and this is especially true at the local level. We are committed to hearing what you have to say, and have a variety of ways to give you a voice in your government. If you have a concern that can be resolved without requiring a delegation to Council you can contact Administration for assistance from our staff.

Applying to Appear as a Delegation

If you wish to speak directly to Council during a Regular Council Meeting, you can fill out this form to appear as a delegation. Please attach any audio-visual presentation you wish to present (e.g. PowerPoint, video, etc…) to the form as well. Once we have reviewed your form, we will be sure to keep in touch and let you know when you are scheduled to speak to Council.

The Day of your Delegation

Regular Council meetings are held in the Council chambers at the County office. Council will hear your delegation at the scheduled time, but it is best to arrive at least half an hour before the scheduled time. This will give you time to check in at the front desk, have a coffee, get seated in the chambers, and prepare any materials you will need for your presentation.

When it is time for your presentation, you will have fifteen minutes to speak to Council. If all members of Council agree, the time limit of the presentation may be extended. If Council asks you any questions, it is best to be clear and honest in your answer. Council will thank you for your time, and will make decisions based on your presentation later in the meeting. You can either stay for the remainder of the meeting as a member of the public, or you can leave as soon as your presentation is over. After the meeting, the minutes will be posted on Council's Calendar as soon as possible, so that you can see Council's decision.
