Agriculture

Our County is a farming community at heart, and we take pride in helping our residents succeed in all their hard work. Our Ag Department helps our farmers by controlling weeds and pests, giving advice and resources, and maintaining the health of our land and waters here in the County.

Each summer, we hire our seasonal Weed and Pest Inspectors, giving young people in the County an opportunity to learn while giving back to their communities.

Our Rural Development team are:

Dessa Nicholson, Agricultural Coordinator

After graduating from Dalhousie University with a degree in Agriculture in 2014 she moved to Alberta to pursue Agriculture working as a sales representative for Cargill. In 2017, she started working at Saddle Hills County as the Ag Fieldman. As a resident of the County herself, Dessa is deeply invested in ensuring that our communities are healthy and prosperous.
