Municipal Planning Commission

The Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) is a Committee of Council established by bylaw that makes decisions on development and planning applications in the County. The MPC is comprised of five members of council, who are appointed at the annual Council Organizational Meeting.

The MPC is responsible for making decisions on development permit applications concerning discretionary uses as listed within the County’s Land Use Bylaw. It also considers decisions on development permit applications that propose a variance of up to 25% from the development specifications contained within the Land Use Bylaw and any applications on decisions for subdivision or development permit applications referred to the Municipal Planning Commission by the Development Officer for a decision.

The MPC meets prior to the Regular Council Meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. If required, an MPC meeting can be called outside of the regular meeting schedule.
