Emergency and Protective Services

Saddle Hills County's Protective Services Department provides our community with quick and effective responses to emergency situations and ensures the safety of the whole community.

In conjunction with the other Central Peace Municipalities of Birch Hills County, the MD of Spirit River #133, the Town of Spirit River, and the Village of Rycroft, we provide a unified response to regional emergencies through the Central Peace Regional Emergency Management partnership. Alongside the Voyent Alert! Notification System we do our best to keep residents up-to-date on emergencies and service disruptions relevant to them.

The department is also responsible for wildfire mitigation, using Controlled Burn Notifications and keeping the community informed on any Fire Restrictions or Bans with Fire Notices. Our talented and dedicated Volunteer Fire Departments and Medical First Responders are always on hand to assist with emergency response efforts in the region.

We also provide a series of Emergency Preparedness and Livestock Emergency Preparedness resources to ensure that our residents and producers are able to meet the challenging demands of disasters.

Saddle Hills County also employs an in-house Peace Officer responsible for Bylaw Control and Infractions, and to assist with Crime Prevention measures. A Residential Security System Grant has also been put in place by Council to help residents with the cost of home security.

If you have any questions about the services offered, please contact our Protective Services Department at ProtSrvcs@saddlehills.ab.ca or call (780) 864-3760.
