2025 Women in STEM Scholarship

Alberta's Women in STEM Scholarship is now in it's fifth year, with the aim of helping women pursue rewarding careers in the province's thriving STEM industries. In 2024-25, 50 students across Alberta received Women in STEM Scholarships, each receiving $2,500.

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Identify as a woman.
  • Be studying in STEM, as defined by the Statistics Canada classification for STEM programs.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person (visa students are not eligible).
  • Be a resident of Alberta*
  • Be a registered (full or part-time) student in an approved post-secondary institution located in Alberta, including Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training's Apprenticeship Education Program.

*To be considered an Alberta resident, one of the following conditions must apply:

  • one parent, or legal guardian has maintained permanent residence in Alberta for at least 12 consecutive months immediately prior to commencing post-secondary studies.
  • Alberta is the last place the student has lived for six consecutive months immediately prior to commencing post-secondary studies.
  • the student’s spouse or partner has maintained permanent residence in Alberta for six consecutive months prior to the person attending post-secondary.

Previous recipients are welcome to apply, although priority will be given to applicants who have not previously received the scholarship. There is no age limit for applications.

Applicants can apply to the Women in STEM, Persons Case, and Women in Technical and Applied Arts scholarships. However, they cannot be awarded multiple scholarships during the same calendar year.

Interested applicants should apply online through the Grant Administration Tracking and Evaluation (GATE) application system.

The deadline for applications is October 31, 2025.
