Apply for an Agricultural Societies Innovation Award

The Agricultural Societies Innovation Award recognizes the impact and contribution of agricultural societies within Alberta communities.

Societies may submit a new innovative project for an award based on the size of the community. The categories are:

  • a smaller primary agricultural society in a community with less than 1,000 people.
  • a larger primary agricultural society in a community with 1,000 or more people.
  • a regional agricultural society.

Up to three organizations will receive an award each year, with one or more awards available in each category.

To be eligible, projects must:

  • be a new project or be in a new phase of an existing project;
  • promote community engagement;
  • demonstrate a creative solution to maximize an opportunity or overcome a challenge; and
  • achieve a positive social and economic impact on the community.

Award recipients will be chosen by a selection panel, including representatives from both the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies and Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation. Nominations will be judged based on creativity, community engagement, challenges overcome, community impact, and overall impression.

The winners will receive:

  • recognition at the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies annual convention in February 2026;
  • a banner to display in their facilities; and
  • a certificate from the Minister.
