Be Prepared: Power Outages

Summer hazards such as high winds, summer storms, floods, and extreme heat can lead to power outages. #BePrepared by:

  • Practicing power conservation. For example, use fans instead of indoor cooling or heating to circulate air.
  • Gathering supplies such as a charged power bank and cords, batteries, no-cook meals, stored or bottled water, flashlights, and other essentials that may be useful during a power outage.
  • Keeping a checklist of tasks to do before and after an outage, such as unplugging appliances and electronics to prevent damage when the power is restored.
