Be Prepared: Winter Risks
Snowy, cooler weather is returning across the province - tis’ the season to prepare for the many winter hazards Albertans may face.
Be Prepared by:
- Avoiding travel during blizzards, freezing rain, and ice storms. If you must drive—travel during daylight hours and let someone know your ETA and destination.
- Stocking your emergency supplies and kit with warm layers, a shovel, heat packs, and other items that would be helpful if you need to pull over or have to shelter in place during a storm.
- If you live rurally, stringing guidelines between your house and other buildings you may need to reach during a storm.
Knowing the risks near you and planning for how they may affect your household’s unique needs helps build resilience and supports smoother navigation when disruptions occur.
