Be Prepared: Winter Travel
Dropping temperatures can bring several potential hazards, especially if you are travelling. Being prepared builds resilience and helps you and your loved ones stay safe in any situation on the road.
Be Prepared by:
- Packing a vehicle emergency kit with essentials like non-perishable food, water, medications, heat packs, and warm clothing in case your trip is unexpectedly extended due to disruption(s).
- Downloading the 511 Alberta, Alberta Emergency Alert, and WeatherCan apps before you travel to stay informed with up-to-date information on weather conditions, detours, and travel delays.
- Sharing your travel plans with someone you trust, including your destination and estimated arrival time, and checking in once you’ve arrived safely.
Preparedness helps reduce stress and makes it easier for you and your loved ones to navigate hard situations. The Be Prepared program offers resources to help your household prepare for Alberta’s hazards year-round.
