Fire Restriction in Saddle Hills County - September 19, 2025

As a result of higher temperatures and drying conditions, the Fire Danger Rating in Saddle Hills County has changed from HIGH to VERY HIGH.

As of May 1, 2025, the Fire Advisory in Saddle Hills County has been upgraded to a FIRE RESTRICTION. The County of Grande Prairie No. 1 and the Grande Prairie Forest Area also have Fire Restrictions in effect.

Controlled burning in the Non-Forest Protection Area, including on privately-owned land, is now limited to campfires and burning barrels. Large fuel burns will not be permitted at this time.

This FIRE RESTRICTION will remain in place until conditions improve.

Protect Yourself and Your Community: Seasonal Immunizations and Measles Exposure

Protect yourself and your community. Stay aware of current measles exposures and register for your seasonal vaccinations in the Central Peace.

A confirmed measles case has prompted warnings in the region, including in Grande Prairie, Spirit River, and Fairview. 

Alberta Health Services has advised that those at the following locations during the times reported, may have been exposed:

  • Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, Pediatric Unit 33: September 23, 2025 | 12 p.m. – 5:10 p.m.
  • Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department: September 22, 2025 | 10:40 a.m. – 6:55 p.m.
  • Central Peace Health Complex, Spirit River: September 22, 2025 | 8:25 p.m. – 11:15 p.m.

Anyone who was at these locations at those times, who was born in or after 1970 and has less than two documented doses of the measles vaccine may be at risk of developing the illness. Symptoms include a fever, a cough, a runny nose and/or red eyes and a rash that shows up three to seven days after the fever starts. The rash usually starts behind the ears and on the face, then spreads down to the body and to the arms and legs.

With this in mind, seasonal vaccinations are now available at the following locations for flu and/or Covid vaccinations. Vaccines are available by drop-in or appointment.

For children aged 11 years and under, please contact 811 for Covid immunization appointments. 

Please note, that under new provincial legislation a $100 fee for the Covid vaccine applies if you do not qualify for the free immunization.
