Roots to Results: Soil, Care & Fruit Tree Grafting - May 5, 2026

Saddle Hills County is hosting Roots to Results: Soil, Care & Fruit Tree Grafting, a hands-on workshop with tree care and forestry specialist Toso Bozic, at the Gordondale Hall, on May 5, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This practical session will cover fruit tree grafting techniques, including types of grafting, proper timing, rootstock selection, and common mistakes to avoid. Participants will also learn essential pruning practices for apples, pears, cherries, raspberries, and other fruit-bearing plants, including pruning types, timing, tools, safety considerations, and fruit-specific pruning methods.

The workshop will also explore the importance of understanding your soil and preparing your site before planting. Improper soil preparation is one of the most common mistakes in tree planting, and this session will provide guidance on how to set trees up for long-term success.

This event is free and lunch will be provided.
