Temporary Pause on Admissions to Pleasant View Lodge

JoAnn Cazakoff, Director of Clinical Operations, Area 3, AHS North Zone, issued the following statement on May 15, 2025, regarding admissions to the Pleasant View Lodge in Spirit River:

"Alberta Health Services is temporarily pausing admissions to Type B and Type B Secure Continuing Care Home (CCH) spaces at the Pleasant View Lodge in Spirit River until further notice as a result of a shortage of clinical operations personnel.

This decision was not made lightly. The safety of our residents and staff is at the heart of every decision we make, and this decision is necessary to ensure appropriate staffing supports are available for all residents.

We are always working to address staffing needs and ensure appropriate access to health services. Recruitment efforts continue as AHS works to ensure access to local health care services. We continue to work hard to find solutions to address staffing needs, including locum coverage.

We will continue to update the community about recruitment efforts and thank the community for their understanding during this time."
