Water Cistern Subsidy

To ensure that residents have access to clean, potable water, Saddle Hills County offers a range of services, including a Water Cistern Subsidy Grant.

The grant provides a one-time subsidy to County residents for the installation of a new water cistern for residential use, covering up to 75% of the cost, up to a maximum of $5,000 per residence.

The subsidy covers the purchase, installation, and related expenses for the cistern, including things like the building to house the cistern, the purchase and installation of a water pump, related lines, and mechanical or electronic components, other required expenses associated with the installation.

Personal time and the use of personal equipment may also be covered at 50% of the cost, up to a maximum of $2,500, with an hourly equipment rate not exceeding the Alberta Road Builders Rate.

Projects must be completed within 12 months of being approved and applicants should not proceed with installation before receiving approval from the County. Please keep all receipts associated with the project, as these will need to be provided as proof of payment.

To apply, please complete and submit a Water Cistern Subsidy Program Application online. You may also complete the Fillable PDF and email it to EnvSvcs@saddlehills.ab.ca, or complete a paper copy and submit it to the County office during regular business hours or mail it to us at: Attention: Environmental Services, Saddle Hills County, RR1, Spirit River, AB.
