    It was a beautiful day at Moonshine Lake Provincial Park last Thursday, August 24, for the annual Saddle Hills County Volunteer Appreciation BBQ. Volunteers, their family and supporters, and members of the community came out to share in a delicious steak supper, provided by Alberts Catering, and hear of the accomplishments and kind words said about this years nominated volunteers.

    Taxation is the process of applying the tax rate (or mill rate) to a property's assessed value. This determines the taxes payable.

  • Moisture Updates - August 23, 2023

    Since the last report on August 16, 2023, rains have continued throughout a large swath of the North West, North East and Eastern Peace Regions with many lands receiving well over 40 mm in recent days, and in some areas ranging to well over 80 mm. Elsewhere along the foothills and extending eastward into the Central and Southern Regions and along the USA border, upwards of 20 mm fell on moisture stressed lands. Unfortunately dry conditions prevailed elsewhere, with less than 10mm falling across wide swaths of land though parts of the Central, Southern and Peace Regions.

    Maps 1, 2 & 3: Rainfall accumulations since the last report (August 9, 2023) have been highly variable across the province, ranging from just over 70 mm across the Forest Protection Areas in the north-central parts of the province, to less than 1 mm across large parts of the North West Region and throughout most of the Southern Region (Map 1).
